All appointments go through your regular veterinarian. They will consult with me, provide the necessary diagnostics, and likely schedule the consultation or surgery on your behalf. If you are interested in availing of our services, you may request your veterinarian organize a referral with us.

Most pets return home the same day after surgery. However, in some cases, overnight monitoring may be recommended to ensure a smooth recovery. If this is needed—or if you prefer your pet to be monitored overnight regardless—we can refer you to an appropriate after-hours care facility.

Please note that these facilities operate independently from Newfoundland Vet Surgery and your primary clinic, and associated costs can vary and may be difficult to estimate in advance. If you would like overnight care arranged for your pet, please inform both us and your referring veterinarian ahead of time so we can help coordinate the best plan for their recovery.

We perform many orthopedic surgeries (like TPLO for cruciate ligament repair, correction of patellar luxation, and fracture repair) and advanced soft tissue procedures. Your veterinarian will discuss the specific procedure recommended for your pet or may refer you to us for consultation to discuss the procedure in more detail.

Unlike a specialty hospital, I bring the surgical expertise to your local clinic. Your pet can have advanced surgery in a familiar, lower-stress environment, and you maintain your relationship with your regular veterinarian. Please note that not all clinics are suitable for in-house surgery, in which case you may be referred to another local trusted clinic.

A surgical specialist has undertaken many years of advanced training specifically in the field of surgery. This is a rigorous and highly formalized training pathway ensuring excellence in clinical training. Dr. Waylon Wiseman has been awarded board certification and is formally recognized as specialist in small animal surgery.

Mobile surgery is more affordable than referral hospitals because your pet stays at your local clinic, reducing facility costs.

We are fully trained in neurosurgery, including the management of IVDD, but at this time we do not have the equipment and facilities necessary to safely perform these procedures. We are diligently working to acquire the required resources so that we can offer this service in the near future.
